Flapjack’s Pancake Cabin Gatlinburg (146 Parkway location) is one of 16 restaurants in Sevier County operated by Collier Restaurant Group, a leading employer in Sevier County and established in 1988. Our core values are Integrity, Accountability, Teamwork, Servant’s Heart, and Excellence.
Job Summary
We are looking for someone with an outgoing personality who will greet every guest with a smile as their first point of contact upon entering the restaurant. If you have an outgoing personality, enjoy talking to people, and are a team player, this could be a great fit for you!
Great communication and organizational skills are an important part of being a successful host. You will learn or improve these skills as you work alongside our long-term employees.
You will learn to multitask as you greet and seat guests, answer the phone, keep the host area tidy, and monitor the seating in the dining area.
In addition to host duties, you will gain knowledge in all aspects of restaurant operation and management as you have opportunity to shadow and interact with the General Manager and other management staff.
Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities
- Welcome guests as they enter the restaurant
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
- Escort guests to their table according to the seating chart
- Provide menus and let the guests know who their server will be
- Coordinate with servers about available seating options
- Take and complete carry-out orders
- Learn and become proficient in all aspects of Toast point-of-sale system
- Process sales for gift items
- Maintain a clean reception area
- Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g., children, elderly)
- Answer incoming phone calls and address customer questions
- Assist serving staff as needed
Job Requirements You Will Learn or Improve as you are Mentored
- Understanding of restaurant etiquette
- Excellent communication skills (in-person and on the phone)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to monitor the entire dining area
- Ability to walk & stand during entire shift
- Ability to multitask and make decisions quickly
